A hot-air balloon carrying 21 passengers went down in flames in Southern Brazil.

In an article by PhilSTAR Life, the tragic event was shared by Santa Catarina state governor Jorginho Mello through his post on X.

Videos capturing the terrifying moment were taken by witnesses and quickly spread online.

Based on reports, at least 8 people lost their lives in the incident, while the 13 remaining passengers were rushed to the hospital and are currently undergoing treatment.

Officials from Our Lady of Fatima said five of the thirteen survivors were already in stable condition, and two have already been discharged.

"I want to express my solidarity with the families of the victims," Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Brazilian President, said in a statement.

Tiago Luiz Lemos, a police official in Praia Grande, told local media that the pilot of the hot-air balloon told officials that the fire was started by a blowtorch. A blowtorch is used to ignite the balloon's main flame.

According to the fire department official Zevir Cipriano Junior, four of the casualties were burned to death while the other four died from injuries they sustained from the fall.

According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
