Over 50 people lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

As reported by Atom Araullo in GMA 7's 'SAKSI,' a bus carrying 70 passengers veered off a cliff and crashed into a river.

Investigations revealed that the driver lost control of the bus, hitting several other vehicles before plunging from a bridge straight down the cliff.

During the rescue mission, there were some passengers trapped in one part of the bus that was partly under the water.

Due to the severity of the accident, the President of Guatemala declared a three-day national mourning period across the country.

According to the victim, she lost control of herself due to too much intoxication. She, her stepbrother, and other friends were drinking on July 2023, and she woke up from the heinous crime being committed by three men including her stepbrother. The other two suspects were first arrested by the police, and the victim's stepbrother was arrested after over a year.
