A 21-month-old German girl tragically died after slipping from her father's arms while they were going down a water slide at a water park in Lopar, Croatia.

Reports like the ones from The New York Post and The Independent, say the child fell about four meters (13 feet) onto a concrete surface.

Witnesses heard the father crying and shouting for help, holding his unresponsive daughter.

A doctor nearby quickly gave CPR, and the toddler was rushed to the hospital by helicopter.

Doctors found she had severe brain trauma and internal injuries.

Sadly, she passed away the next morning.

Lopar's mayor said the entire town was shaken by the rare and heartbreaking accident.

A local tourist board spokesperson added that the water park has been open for years without any incidents and that Lopar is known as a peaceful, family-friendly place.

Authorities are now looking into the case to find out exactly what happened and whether proper safety rules were followed.

It's still unclear if the slide was suitable for a child of that age or if any protective measures were missed.
