Ong is now in the intensive care unit at Police General Hospital, while Gan is recovering at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Channel News Asia reported.

“Ong sustained second-degree burns across his upper body, both front and back. The injuries are serious but not life-threatening,” said Bong Yik Jui, Malaysia’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim in Thailand.
“Gan suffered 36 per cent second-degree burns, but she is stable and conscious.”

Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan confirmed that doctors have advised the victims remain in Bangkok until their burn wounds are sufficiently healed, as such injuries are highly sensitive to pressure and require proper drying time.
