They consumed the water from their water bottles to start taking the fire out.
The incident resulted in the plane doing an emergency landing in Hangzhou, China.
Investigations about the incident are now being conducted, particularly the airline's management.
Determining fault when a passenger plane catches fire depends on the cause of the fire. Investigations are typically conducted by aviation authorities such as the NTSB in the U.S., CAAP in the Philippines, or other relevant agencies.
The airline may be at fault if improper maintenance, failure to follow safety protocols, or crew negligence contributed to the fire. The aircraft manufacturer could be responsible if a design flaw or manufacturing defect caused the incident.
Airport authorities may also be liable if the fire resulted from improper fueling procedures or ground handling errors. In some cases, passengers could be at fault if the fire was caused by unauthorized or prohibited items brought on board. The final determination of fault comes after a thorough investigation of flight data, maintenance records, and eyewitness accounts.
