South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron is making headlines due to the shocking news about her sudden death.

The 24-year-old actress was found dead at her home on Sunday, Yonhap News Agency reported.

She was discovered by a friend who had plans to meet with her.

According to The Korea Herald, Kim's friend called the police at around 4:50 p.m. Authorities are investigating the cause of death, but said they had not discovered any signs of a break-in as of press time.

"We have not found any signs of foul play as of yet, but we are investigating the circumstances of the death," a police official said, as quoted in a report by Yonhap.

As per ABS-CBN News, Kim was mostly inactive in the entertainment industry due to a drunk driving incident in 2022.

A court fined her 20 million won ($13,850) in April 2023, The Korea Herald noted.

In 2024, the late K-drama star also made headlines after being linked to actor Kim Soo-hyun in dating rumors.

Born in 2000, Kim Sae-ron began acting at the age of 9, garnering attention through her appearances in the action movie "The Man from Nowhere" in 2010 and the thriller "The Neighbor" in 2012.

She led the mystery series "The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim" in 2021 alongside Nam Da-reum. "Bloodhounds," released in 2023, was her last work.

Aside from Kim Sae-ron, there were other Asian celebrities who died recently.

Lee Joo Sil, a veteran South Korean actress, has tragically passed away at 80 years old. According to Koreaboo, Lee Joo-sil died on February 2 at 10:20 a.m. while receiving treatment for her illness. Her agency, 1230culture, confirmed the unfortunate news to Soompi with a statement that partly read, “Approximately three months ago, actress Lee Joo Sil’s health declined, and she was diagnosed with stomach cancer after an examination from the hospital.” The veteran South Korean actress starred in numerous projects including “Train to Busan” and “Squid Game 2.”
