The announcement of her passing came through a statement released by her family and management team, confirming that the singer died unexpectedly while undergoing treatment.

“Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.”

The statement also said that more information would be shared at a later time while asking the public to respect the family's privacy during this difficult period.

“We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.”
