American actor Robert Carradine, best known for his role in Lizzie McGuire, has died at the age of 71. The bereaved family confirmed the news in a statement shared with Deadline on Tuesday (Philippine time), revealing that he took his own life.

In their statement, the family expressed their deep sorrow and celebrated Robert’s impact on those around him. They said, “It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away. In a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon of light to everyone around him.”

The family also highlighted Robert’s personal struggles and resilience, noting, “We are bereft at the loss of this beautiful soul and want to acknowledge Bobby’s valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder. We hope his journey can shine a light and encourage addressing the stigma that attaches to mental illness.”

Robert Carradine, affectionately known as Bobby, came from a family of actors, being part of the renowned Carradine family, and had a career spanning decades in both television and film.
