Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala, 19, has been making history since she arrived at the Miami Open as a wild card ranked No. 140 in the world.

According to Women's Tennis Association, Eala is set to become the first Filipina to enter the top 100 of the world tennis rankings when it updates on Monday, March 31.

WTA's article came after she advanced to the semifinals of the Miami Open following her win over her idol, World No. 2 Iga Swiatek, 6-2, 7-5, on Wednesday. This would be the first WTA semifinal of her career.

“I don’t know what to say, I mean, complete just disbelief right now and I am on cloud nine,” Eala said in her on-court interview.

“It’s forever in my heart,” she added.

This marked Eala’s third straight time to beat a top 25 opponent. Before beating Swiatek, who has won five Grand Slam crowns, Eala also took down No. 5 Madison Keys, who is the reigning Australian Open champion, and No. 25 Jelena Ostapenko, who ruled the 2017 French Open.

According to the WTA, "A player's ranking is determined by results at a maximum of 18 tournaments for singles and 12 for doubles. Points are awarded based on the level of tournament and a player's round-by-round progression at that tournament."
