Angelita Poquiz, the grandmother of Carlos Yulo, revealed that she changed her mind at the last minute, and decided to watch the parade of her grandson.
She said that for as long as Carlos would know that they are there, then that is already okay for her even if they would not see each other.
"Hindi na rin ako makatiis kasi parang naaano na rin ako, kasi, siyempre dadaan siya diyan tapos lahat ng tao, makikita niya, kami wala. Malaman lang niyang nandodoon kami okay na yun kahit hindi kami nagkita."

Carlos Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast known for his exceptional skills and achievements in gymnastics. He gained international recognition for his performances in various competitions, particularly in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He won two gold medals in gymnastics' men's floor exercise and men's vault in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
It can be recalled that Carlos, along with the rest of the Philippine Olympic Team were given a Heroes’ Welcome Ceremony at the Malacañang Palace. After arriving at the Villamor Airbase around 7:20PM onboard a Philippine Airlines chartered flight where they had a brief respite, they were immediately brought to Malacañang. The President and the First Lady, along with their two sons, were on hand to welcome the Pinoy Olympians to the palace. The 2024 Paris Olympics is considered one of the most successful Olympic campaigns of the Philippines where the country was able to get two gold medals, courtesy of Carlos, and two bronze medals, courtesy of Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio.
Meanwhile, the teachers of Carlos Yulo had already spoken about the true attitude and character of the Olympian. All of them have nothing but kind words for him. His science teacher said that the Adamsonians were all so proud of him. Caloy's English teacher noted that one thing that really helped Caloy was his humility, underscoring that he was never "mayabang."
