Rodrigo "Boy" Frisco, the grandfather of Carlos Yulo, was able to face the media in "Unang Hirit," and recalled the humble beginnings of his grandson.

According to the grandfather, at the playground near them, there was a young boy who was playing for Palarong Pambansa, who kept on tumbling.

He also noted that Caloy was imitating him.

The grandpa also recalled the time that they were watching an event at Rizal Monument.

He said that Caloy was simply tumbling and tumbling, when he and the other kids were noticed.

“One time may competition doon sa Rizal Memorial, nandoon kami, kasama mga apo ko... Nanood lang kami. Hindi pa kami pinapapasok sa oval dahil maaga pa, tumbling sila nang tumbling doon. Bawat oras tumbling nang tumbling,” he narrated.

"Habang naghihintay kami tumbling sila nang tumbling, pinababayaan ko lang. Nakita sila nung Team Philippines. 'Saan sila nagtetraining?' Tinanong ako... Sabi ko 'Dito lang, wala kaming formal training' Sabi niyang ganyan 'Dalhin mo sa gymnastics baka matanggap siya," he added.

Carlos Edriel Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast known for his exceptional skills and achievements in gymnastics. He gained international recognition for his performances in various competitions, particularly in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He bagged two gold medals in gymnastics at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In the ad, Carlos is thrown back to his childhood, where his mom could be seen supporting him. It is also worth noting that his brother, Karl Eldrew Yulo, was the one who played the young Caloy.

Carlos Yulo, after bagging his second Olympic gold medal, aired a message to his father Mark Andrew. In a video posted by GMA News, Caloy shared how much he loves his dad. The two-time Olympic gold medalist also shared how supportive his beloved father is. The Filipino gymnast likewise aired a short yet sweet message for Mark Andrew.
