Samboy Lim’s heartbreaking photos & video at his daughter’s graduation go viral

Samboy Lim touched hearts on social media after photos and clips of him attending the graduation of his daughter Jamie Christine Berberabe Lim surfaced online.
KAMI learned that Jamie, who earned a BS Mathematics degree at the University of the Philippines (UP), was awarded the highest Latin honor.
Darlene Berberabe, who is Jamie’s mother and Samboy’s ex-wife, also attended the special event.
Lolit Solis shared her thoughts on Samboy’s attendance at his daughter’s graduation:
“Alam mo Salve, talagang hindi mo masabi ang buhay mo kung saan ka dadalhin o mapupunta. Meron kirot sa puso nang makita ko si Samboy Lim na dati ay sikat na sikat na basketball player nang mag-attend siya ng graduation ng anak na summa cumlaude sa UP. Hiwalay sila ng dating asawa na head ng Pag-Ibig Funds na si Darlene Berberabe. Hindi na nakakakita at nakapagsasalita si Samboy dahil sa stroke na nangyari sa kanya, at hiwalay na sila ng dating asawa nang mangyari iyon. Pero invited pa rin siya sa graduation ng anak na naiwan sa dating misis. Ang sarap makita na kahit hiwalay na at ganun sinapit ng dating asawa mo na sumama sa ibang babae, heto at you have a big heart to still welcome him para makasama ng inyong anak."
“At tingnan mo, summa cumlaude ang anak nila Samboy at Darlene kahit pa nga hiwalay sila. Patunay talaga na hindi ang sitwasyon ang gumagawa sa tao, ang tao ang nagdi-decide kung paano niya aayusin ang nangyari sa paligid niya. Kaya iyon ang dahilan kaya sila nawala sa landas o kaya naging delinquents dahil hiwalay parents nila, hindi tutoo. Buhay mo ang aayusin mo, kaya ikaw mag-desisyon. Gusto mo maging maayos nasa iyo iyan. Gusto mo mapasama, nasa iyo din iyon. Like hindi mo aakalain magiging ganun ang kasasapitan ni Samboy na sa isang iglap, bulag at pipi ka na, hindi makakilos physically. Siguro nga, isang gift sa kanya ni God na heto, ipagmamalaki mo ang iyong anak na si Jamie, at thank you sa pagiging mabait ng kanyang ex wife na si Darlene. Sana nga gumaling pa si Samboy,” Lolit wrote on Instagram.

Samboy Lim is a PBA legend known as “The Skywalker”.
In 2014, the retired basketball player collapsed while playing an exhibition game. He was able to wake up from a comatose state but has since been unable to walk, see, and speak.
