During the brief hearing at Manchester South Coroner’s Court, officials confirmed that an inquest into Hatton’s death has been opened and adjourned. His family shared that he appeared well on September 12 but failed to attend a scheduled event in the following days, raising concern that led to the tragic discovery.
Hatton was one of Britain’s most beloved boxers, boasting a career that saw him become a two-weight world champion and one of the country’s most popular sporting figures. Known for his relentless fighting style and massive fanbase, Hatton defeated Kostya Tszyu in 2005 to win the IBF light-welterweight title, later adding the WBA version and moving up to challenge legends like Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. His fights often drew tens of thousands of fans, both in the UK and abroad, solidifying his place in boxing history.
Despite his success in the ring, Hatton was open about his struggles with mental health in the years following his retirement. He publicly spoke about experiencing depression, suicidal thoughts, and difficulties adjusting to life after boxing. In interviews, Hatton described how the pressure of fame and the abrupt end of his fighting career deeply affected him, but he often credited his family and fans for helping him find purpose and recovery. His death has reignited conversations about mental health awareness, particularly among athletes dealing with life beyond the spotlight.

Jinkee and the boxing legend have five children – Emmanuel Jr. (Jimuel), Michael Stephen, Mary Divine Grace (Princess), Queen Elizabeth (Queenie), and Israel.
As previously reported by KAMI, Manny Pacquiao and his wife, Jinkee, together with their children, lined up at a fast food restaurant. They did not use their celebrity status to get ahead in the line, instead, they patiently waited for their turn. Thereafter, they seated themselves in he middle of the resto and ate their meals. The video was uploaded by Michael Reiano Murillo on FB. He used several captions that would define the level of humility of the billionaire family, as per the video.
Earlier, Manny Pacquiao revealed in an ambush interview with the media that he already fired his personnel who got involved in a traffic problem with authorities recently. It can be recalled that elements of the DOTr-SAICT flagged down the alleged convoy of the boxing legend and former senator for using the EDSA busway. In a video that subsequently went viral, one can see the vehicle’s occupants drop the name of former Senator Pacquiao as DOTr-SAICT personnel asked for their license and registration.
