Doc Adam, or Dr. Adam Smith of Australia, congratulated Filipino weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz in a unique way for winning the Philippines’ first-ever Olympic gold medal.
The YouTube star’s tribute shows off his own strength and weightlifting abilities that almost matched Hidilyn’s lift at the Olympics.
The video shows Doc Adam pressing 115 kg or 253.5 lbs but failing his 120-kg attempt.
As for Hidilyn, she won the Tokyo Olympics gold medal by lifting 127 kgs or 280 lbs. Doc Adam might not have lifted the same amount of weight as Hidilyn did but it is nonetheless impressive for someone who is not competing as a weightlifter.
Hidilyn Diaz is a weightlifter who became the first Filipino to win an Olympic gold medal. She won the prestigious medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan for the women's 55 kg category for weightlifting.
In a previous report by KAMI, President Rodrigo Duterte awarded P3 million to Diaz. He also told her to “let bygones be bygones” and to focus on celebrating her victory. Diaz has been promised a total of over P50 million by different individuals, companies and institutions.
The superstar athlete also gained praise after opening up about the huge amount of money to be given to her for winning at the Olympics. According to Diaz, she will not forget to give a part of the money to her church.
