Davila’s post came amid headlines involving Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who has recently been linked to legal proceedings following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Sandiganbayan.
In her message, Davila emphasized that her comments were not meant to prejudge the senator involved but were instead directed toward lawmakers whom she believed should focus their compassion on the struggles of ordinary Filipinos.
“Senators were seen crying yesterday as a colleague was being arrested for plunder,” Davila wrote.

“This is in no way an indictment of the accused senator but I would like to remind our lawmakers…”
She then delivered a series of statements highlighting issues affecting many citizens across the country.
“Iyakan n’yo ang ninanakawang Pilipino.
Iyakan n’yo ang binabaha dahil sa nakawan sa flood control.
Iyakan n’yo ang gutom nating mga kababayan.
Get out of your bubble. Please.”
The post quickly circulated on social media, with supporters praising Davila for drawing attention to concerns such as poverty, corruption, and infrastructure issues that continue to affect communities nationwide.
The comments emerged amid ongoing public discussions surrounding the legal issues involving Estrada and several government officials.
Reports indicated that an arrest warrant had been issued against the senator in relation to a plunder case. The development reportedly prompted emotional reactions from some members of the Senate, becoming a major topic of discussion both inside and outside political circles.
Davila, one of the country’s most prominent journalists, has long been known for using her platform to comment on social issues, governance, and matters affecting ordinary Filipinos.
Born to former Philippine President Joseph Estrada, Jinggoy Estrada has built a lengthy career in public service and national politics. Throughout the years, he has frequently advocated for transparency in government operations and accountability within public institutions. Despite facing major legal challenges over the course of his career, he has continued to defend his legislative record and has often spoken out against what he considers inaccurate or misleading media narratives.
Previously, the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division issued an arrest warrant against Estrada and several former senior infrastructure officials. The case involves a non-bailable plunder charge that carries a possible penalty of life imprisonment upon conviction. The court proceeded with the order despite a last-minute motion filed by defense lawyers seeking to halt the issuance of the warrant. The development followed an earlier court action involving separate graft charges filed against some of the same personalities.
Earlier, Senator Estrada posted bail after the Second Division of the anti-graft court, the Sandiganbayan, issued warrants of arrest and hold departure orders against him and former Department of Public Works and Highways officials over their alleged participation in a complex flood-control kickback scheme. The case has since become one of the most closely watched legal and political developments in the country.
