Former Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita passed away peacefully on October 18 at the age of 90, his family confirmed.
In a statement posted on Facebook through Balayan Mayor Lisa Ermita, his daughter, the family expressed their deep sadness over his passing.
They described him as a dedicated public servant, soldier, and family man who lived a life of service to the Filipino people.
To his loved ones, he was “Papa” or “Lolo Ed,” a source of wisdom, strength, and unconditional love.

The family added that his legacy of integrity and compassion will live on through those he inspired.
They also thanked everyone for their messages of sympathy and support, saying that Ermita may now rest peacefully.
Details about his funeral will be announced soon.
A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy, Ermita was known for his integrity, discipline, and commitment to peace.
In 1984, he served as a negotiator during peace talks with the Moro National Liberation Front in Basilan.
His efforts contributed to the 1976 Tripoli Agreement and later the 1996 Final Peace Agreement.
Beyond his military service, Ermita served as a three-term congressman representing the 1st District of Batangas from 1992 to 2001.
He also held key positions in government, including Secretary of National Defense under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
As a loyal leader of the Lakas–CMD party, he remained active in public service, serving as its provincial and regional chairman for many years.
