Former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas has announced the passing of his mother, Judy Araneta-Roxas, who died on Tuesday, August 26, at the age of 91.

Judy was the widow of the late Senator Gerardo “Gerry” Roxas, son of former President Manuel Roxas and Trinidad de Leon-Roxas. Through marriage, she became part of one of the country’s most prominent political families, while also maintaining her ties to the influential Araneta clan, long regarded as among the Philippines’ most prominent landed families.
In a social media post, Mar shared a portrait of his mother as he delivered the unfortunate news.
“We are very sad to share that our mother Judy Araneta Roxas passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by family and loved ones.”

The Roxas matriarch was known for her grace, resilience, and strength, having stood by her husband during his years in public service and later guiding her children and grandchildren as the family continued its legacy in politics, business, and civic life.
News of her death prompted an outpouring of condolences from the public. Many expressed their sympathies online, offering prayers for Judy’s eternal repose and words of comfort for the Roxas family.

The celebrity mom proudly shared that her kids completed the program with advanced learning merits.
