Pasig congressional candidate Atty. Christian Sia spoke to the press to defend himself following his recent disqualification.
It can be recalled that the COMELEC Second Division disqualified Sia over remarks he made about single parents during a campaign speech last April.
COMELEC also stated that if Sia ends up getting the highest number of votes in the upcoming elections, his proclamation will be suspended.
In response, Sia insisted that what he said falls under "freedom of speech" and questioned the resolution issued by the commission to disqualify him.

“His statements fall far below the standards required of those who wish to serve the people. Public office demands better, and the people deserve no less,” the Second Division said in a resolution released Thursday.
“Respondent is hereby DISQUALIFIED from continuing as a candidate for Member, House of Representatives, Lone Legislative District of Pasig City, in relation to the 2025 National and Local Elections,” they added.

Atty. Christian "Ian" Sia is a lawyer, certified public accountant (CPA), and a congressional candidate for Pasig City's lone district in the 2025 elections. He is a founding partner of Mosveldtt Law Offices, leading its Tax, Tariff, and Trade Practice groups. Sia has represented corporate clients before the Bureau of Internal Revenue, specializing in tax-related matters. He holds a law degree from Ateneo de Manila University and an accounting degree from De La Salle University.
In a previous report by KAMI, a Commission on Elections division disqualified Atty. Christian Sia, following his remarks about single mothers. Sia is a Pasig City congressional candidate and became a hot topic after his remarks during a certain campaign in April. There, in a viral video Sia was heard saying: “Minsan sa isang taon, ang mga solo parent na babae na nireregla pa – Nay, malinaw, nireregla pa – at nalulungkot, minsan sa isang taon, puwedeng sumiping ho sa akin." This was condemned by the Solo Parents party-list, which prompted them to file an election offense complaint against the candidate.
Additionally, the COMELEC Task Force SAFE filed a motu proprio petition for disqualification against Pasig City congressional candidate Christian "Ian" Sia. The petition was made because of the remarks made by Sia against single mothers and one of his lady staff members. In a report by GMA 7's 'Balitanghali,' Sia, according to the task force, violated COMELEC's anti-discrimination, fair campaign guidelines. It can be recalled that Sia was already given two show cause orders because of his remarks during his campaigns.
