Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto shrugged off the graft charges against him and two other local government officials.

In a statement posted on Sotto's Instagram Stories, the politician said he has yet to receive a copy of the complaint.

"It's important to understand the process that cases go through in the Office of the Ombudsman. It's easy to have a complaint received and then sensationalize it by bringing the 'received' copy to the media."

"With this particular complaint, I can't even comment because I don't have an official copy. In some cases, the Ombudsman dismisses it outright, and we won't even receive a copy. Other times, there will be a clarificatory hearing."

The local chief then noted the complaint's "interesting timing." Sotto also underscored that "old traditional politics" and "dirty tactics" will no longer work in the city.

"This is not the first time. Notice the interesting timing of this - at the same time that certain political groups are ramping up their political activities."

“Mahirap ang kalaban na may bilyones, galit sa mga reporma, at handang magbayad ng proxies, facebook trolls, former at incumbent officials, etc. Pero hindi na basta-basta gumagana ang old traditional politics at dirty tactics sa Pasig.”

"The people will see right through it," he added.

The complaint, filed by a certain Ethelmart Austria Cruz, accused Sotto, Business Permit and Licensing Department (BPLD) personnel Melanie de Mesa, and City Administrator Jeronimo Manzanero of illegally granting a 100% discount to a telecommunications company based in the city despite its supposed inconsistencies in the documents submitted to city hall.

Vico Sotto is the current mayor of Pasig City. He has become famous for being a hard-working, innovative, and honest politician. The young politician is the son of former couple Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes.

Mayor Vico Sotto of Pasig City has exposed a group of protesters in the said area. Previously, a video of Mayor Vico confronting the group of protesters went viral online. In the video, Mayor Vico informed them he knows they are from Quezon City and Caloocan. He then mentioned the use of dirty tactics in the said viral video on social media.
