Sen. Leila de Lima took to Twitter to express her gratitude to fellow legislator, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, for joining in the call to release the lady senator from detention.

The female legislator has been in detention for over five years after being charged with involvement in illegal drügs.
“Nagpapasalamat ako kay Sen @MannyPacquiao, na pagkatapos ng mahigit 5 taon, ay nanawagan na syang ako ay palayain na,” read Sen. De Lima’s tweet.
She also prayed that Providence will continue to guide her fellow senator.

“May God continue to guide him,” she tweeted.
Sen. De Lima also expressed hope that many more will be enlightened by the alleged fabricated case filed against her.
“Umaasa ako na marami pang maliliwanagan sa mga gawa-gawang kaso laban sa'kin, at ng iba pang mga bilanggong politikal. #Hustisya,” she tweeted.
The lady senator has denied the charges against her, saying that these were allegedly fabricated by some political personalities.
Sen. Leila de Lima is a Philippine senator, who is an open critic of the present administration of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. She has been in jail since 2017. It was alleged that the senator used dr*g money for her campaign in 2016.
Recently, the star witness against Sen. De Lima, former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) OIC Rafael Ragos, during the hearing of Sen. Leila de Lima retracted his previous statement. Ragos was co-accused and was then made a key witness on record for the prosecution. The former BuCor OIC said that there was no truth to any of the affidavits or court testimonies he gave. He specifically mentioned those pertaining to the alleged delivery of monies to then Sec. De Lima or Ronnie Dayan.
Sen. Leila de Lima also took to Twitter and expressed her sentiments after Kerwin Espinosa recanted his statements. The senator said that she has long forgiven and has surrendered everything to God. Those whom she has already forgiven include those whom she said were used or allowed themselves to be used for the lies purported against her. She then encouraged those who have been part of the oppression against her to come out.
