- Rodante Marcoleta has officially backed out from the senatorial race for the upcoming elections in May 2022

- In his official statement, he thanked Pres. Rodrigo Duterte for encouraging him to run for senator

- He also said that he will be indebted forever to several people who chipped in their resources for his campaign

- The candidate is known for spearheading the non-renewal of the franchise of ABS-CBN said that he will continue to support the BBM-Sara tandem

One of the reasons of Marcoleta was his poor showing in surveys, and that he was brave enough to "read the writings on the wall."

"I will be indebted forever to several people who chipped in their resources, time and tons of hardwork into my memorable campaign. I thank the hundreds of parallel support groups and thousands of volunteers who believed in my advocacies and the measures that must be pursued for the common good. I just hope that they will all be so kind and accommodating enough to understand."

Hon. Rodante D. Marcoleta is the Deputy Speaker of the SAGIP party list. He was also considered the first pick for the BBM-Sara senatorial slate. Several days prior to the elections, he withdrew from the race.

John Lapus took to Twitter and reposted a news item made by ONE News PH on senatorial candidate Rodante Marcoleta. The comedian included a single-word caption in his tweet, "Demonyo!" Marcoleta was bragging about having closed ABS-CBN during a speech at one of the campaign rallies in Carmen, Davao del Norte. The closure of ABS-CBN has affected 11,000 employees all over the country and it led to the closure of regional offices of the network as well.

Rep. Rodante Marcoleta defended Toni Gonzaga amidst all the criticisms that the former PBB host has received. In SMNI News, Marcoleta said that it was the job of Toni Gonzaga and that everyone knows her and how professional she is. He then said that those who criticize Toni must also widen their understanding. The representative added, "Hindi naman natin ipinasara."
