COMELEC Commissioner Rowena Guanzon fell victim to fake food orders on the day of her retirement at the constitutional entity.
A report by GMA stated that between six and seven riders with more than five thousand pesos of food ordered in her name delivered the viands at the COMELEC main office at Palacio del Gobernador in Intramuros, Manila.
Another report by the Inquirer quoted Guanzon as saying that she has asked authorities to investigate the bogus orders.
According to the retiring commissioner, the food was ordered using her name through an app.

She said that the orders began arriving last night.
"Since last night there are bogus food delivery orders to Comelec under my name," Guanzon, in a Twitter post, said.
In a CNN report, a restaurant staff attempted to hand over around five thousand worth of packed meals at the COMELEC office.
The order, which was made on a cash-on-delivery basis, was also in the name of commissioner Guanzon.
The office of the retiring commissioner denied they ordered the food.
In a tweet, Guanzon vented out her ire against those who ordered food in her name and expressed pity on the riders who delivered them.
“Ang sasama nila. Kawawa mga pobreng food riders,” Guanzon wrote in a tweet.
Commissioner Guanzon’s name was recently embroiled in controversy after she decided to release her decision regarding the disqualification case filed against former Sen. Bongbong Marcos or BBM ahead of its ponente, Commissioner Aimee Ferolino.
Guanzon also slammed Commissioner Ferolino for allegedly delaying the release of her decision.
The retiring commissioner also claimed a political figure was behind Ferolino’s alleged decision to delay the release of her ponente.
The Commission on Elections or COMELEC is a separate government entity, which was created by the Philippine Constitution. The COMELEC is composed of the chairman and six commissioners who draft and create policies and rules governing elections in the country. According to the Philippine Constitution, the chairman and the majority of the commissioners must be a member of the Philippine Bar and should have been active in the law practice for a minimum of ten years.
During the last presidential elections, the COMELEC itself became controversial when hackers from the group who called themselves ‘Anonymous Philippines’ hacked the website of the constitutional body and defaced it. According to the group, they wanted the government entity to improve the safety features of its website.
In December of last year, celebrities like Maris Racal, Sue Ramirez, and Gretchen Ho reacted hilariously when COMELEC used their names as candidates in a sample ballot. A copy of the said test voting ballot was released by the Commission on Elections which immediately made the rounds on social media. It was used for a mock election held on Wednesday in preparation for the national and local elections in May 2022. The sample ballot was filled with names of international and local celebrities.
