The boxing legend and former senator began his message by sharing his deep sorrow for those affected by the powerful earthquake, particularly the residents of his hometown, General Santos City, and communities across Mindanao. He acknowledged the immense destruction caused by the disaster, including the loss of lives, damaged homes, and the suffering experienced by countless families.
“Today, my heart breaks for the people of my hometown General Santos City and all of Mindanao, Philippines. This devastating earthquake has taken lives, destroyed homes, and shaken a community that has given me everything.”
