"They went to Haifa to visit the husband’s parents," she added.

When the attack occurred, the family could not reach the bomb shelter because the father-in-law had difficulty moving quickly.

"They hid under the staircase instead," Diamante said.

The building they were in collapsed due to the assault, trapping the family inside. All four died as a result, including Lucille, her husband Dmitry Gershovich, 42, and Dmitry’s parents, Vladimir Gershovich, 73, and Lena Ostrovsky, 68.

Diamante noted that this tragic incident highlights the dangers for civilians caught in conflict zones. Authorities are urging residents to seek safer shelter and remain vigilant during attacks.

This attack comes amid rising tensions in the area, raising concerns about the safety of foreign nationals and local families alike.

The loss of life underscores the urgency of protecting civilians and providing timely information about safe zones during conflicts.

In separate news, PAWS issued a strong condemnation of the use of a pigeon in an Easter display at the Diocesan Shrine & Parish of Immaculate Conception. The organization expressed concern after learning that the bird’s wings had been forcibly tied and stretched to reveal the Virgin Mary statue. While recognizing the church’s intention to make the celebration more engaging, PAWS emphasized that harming animals goes against humane values. The group urged religious institutions to explore safer and more compassionate ways to celebrate, encouraging creativity without putting animals at risk.
