The family’s patriarch, Jeorge, a 47-year-old former carpenter, is currently battling a complex series of health complications involving his heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys.

While professional oxygen tanks and nebulizers are the medical standard for his condition, the financial weight of these necessities has become an insurmountable wall for his family.

Rainiel, one of Jeorge’s ten children, shared that the idea for the "improvised oxygen" actually came from the father himself.

Working alongside his uncle, the 24-year-old son modified a plastic bucket and bottles to channel air from an electric fan through water, attempting to provide a form of humidified relief.

"Si Papa po ang nagmungkahi nun," Rainiel explained in an interview. "Idinaan namin ang hangin mula sa bentilador papunta sa balde at nilagyan namin ng kaunting tubig para makatulong."

The family’s situation underscores a growing crisis among many Filipino households where the cost of living, and dying, has outpaced their collective earnings.

Despite a large support system of ten siblings, the recurring expenses for maintenance medicine, specialized milk, and hospital visits have drained their resources.

Before falling ill, Jeorge was the family’s provider, building homes for others. Now, his children are the ones building a lifeline for him.

Amidst the hum of the makeshift machine, a glimmer of hope remains. Jeorge has expressed a heartfelt desire to participate in the "Way of the Cross" this Holy Week should his strength return.
