A passenger on the MRT-3 has drawn attention to what he described as small insects lurking between the seats and handrails of a train car. The sight reportedly caused discomfort and raised health concerns among commuters.

In a statement, the passenger revealed that he was bitten by one of the insects, though he could not determine whether it was a cockroach or a louse.
"I noticed the tiny bugs between the seat and handrail, and one of them bit me," he said, describing the unsettling encounter.
Responding to the complaint, the Department of Transportation and MRT-3 management assured the public that steps are being taken to address the issue.

"We are intensifying our cleaning and pest control measures in all train cars and stations," a DOTr-MRT-3 spokesperson said.
The agency emphasized that maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for commuters remains a top priority.
Additionally, Sumitomo Corporation, which handles maintenance for the MRT-3, has been asked to provide a formal explanation regarding the incident.
"We are coordinating with Sumitomo Corporation to ensure that preventive measures are in place and that such issues do not recur," the spokesperson added.
Commuters expressed mixed reactions, with some showing concern over sanitation, while others called for more frequent inspections.
Experts suggest that regular cleaning and pest monitoring are essential in public transportation systems, particularly in heavily used trains like the MRT-3.
