A 16-year-old boy suspected of attempted robbery and killing was arrested in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal on the evening of February 13, according to authorities.

The Rodriguez Municipal Police Station reported that the suspect was apprehended at around 6:45 p.m. while officers were conducting surveillance and follow-up operations in the area, according to Balitambayan of GMA News.
During the encounter, police noticed the teenager retrieving an item from his pocket, which led to his arrest and the seizure of a firearm.
“Ang baril ay naobserbahan ng arresting officer matapos makuha ng suspek ang isang bagay mula sa kanyang bulsa. Nagresulta iyon sa pagkakaaresto sa suspek at pagkakakumpiska ng isang kalibre 45 pistol (Colt) na may serial number 359554, kargado ng tatlong live ammunition at isang magazine,” saad sa ulat.

Further verification revealed that the arrested minor was allegedly the same individual involved in an attempted robbery and killing of a victim known as alias “Kirby” at about 1:30 a.m. on February 8, 2026, along a road in Barangay San Jose.
The victim, a 20-year-old crew member and resident of Quezon City, was reportedly attacked during the incident.
Following the arrest, the suspect underwent physical and medical examination before being turned over to the local social welfare office for proper disposition, in accordance with procedures involving minors in conflict with the law.
“Inihahanda na ang mga kaukulang dokumento para sa pagsasampa ng kaukulang kaso laban sa kaniya,” ayon sa Rodriguez Police.
Authorities said case preparation is ongoing as they continue to gather evidence related to the incident.
Police also reiterated their commitment to intensified operations aimed at preventing violent crimes and ensuring community safety in Rodriguez and nearby areas.
In an earlier report by KAMI, 23-year-old influencer Valeria Marquez was fatally shot while livestreaming on TikTok inside a beauty salon in Zapopan. Prosecutors in Jalisco are treating the killing as a possible femicide, or gender-based crime, after a gunman carried out the attack. Moments before the shooting, Marquez spoke about an unidentified visitor who had earlier arrived at the salon carrying what she described as an “expensive gift,” raising her unease. The livestream abruptly ended after briefly showing someone picking up her phone.
In a separate incident, three family members were brutally gunned down inside their store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. Security footage showed three armed men entering the shop, shutting the roll-up door, and shooting the victims before escaping. One of the suspects was also seen taking a bag and a mobile phone from a companion prior to fleeing. In a report by Gary De Leon on the TV5 program Frontline Pilipinas, the family had reportedly begun receiving threats after lending ₱1 million to a fellow barangay resident who allegedly used the money for business.
