A quiet neighborhood in Negros Occidental was shaken by a horrific act of violence over the weekend. According to police reports, the children were struck in the head with stones. The two surviving siblings are currently recovering in a hospital, though they remain in critical condition due to the severity of their head injuries. The tragedy is made even more painful by the circumstances of the family; the children's mother is an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) currently stationed in Saudi Arabia, while their father works in Bacolod City and only returns home on Saturdays.
Investigators noted that robbery does not seem to be the reason behind the crime. There were no signs of forced entry for the purpose of theft, and no valuables were reported missing from the residence. However, the scene told a story of targeted violence. Police recovered two stones used in the attack and two mobile phones—one of which was completely smashed.
