The incident, which occurred during the early hours of the morning, serves as a stark reminder of the persistent road safety challenges on one of the metropolis’s busiest thoroughfares.

According to initial reports, the motorcycle was traveling along the avenue when it impacted the rear of a UV Express van that was headed toward the Fairview area.

The force of the collision was significant enough to throw both riders from their vehicle, leaving them sprawled across the asphalt.

Witnesses at the scene, including fellow motorcycle riders who stopped to provide aid, described a harrowing sight.

The male rider was found unconscious but breathing, while his female passenger was discovered over 20 meters away.

Arcinnio Bagalanon, a responder who assisted the victims, noted that the woman appeared to have sustained multiple fractures and visible injuries to her lower extremities.

The driver of the UV Express, who was transporting three passengers at the time, expressed shock over the sudden impact.

He recounted hearing a loud thud from the rear of his vehicle before seeing the two victims on the road through his rearview mirror.

Fortunately, none of the passengers inside the van were reported injured, though the vehicle’s taillight was shattered.

Emergency medical teams arrived shortly after the incident to provide first aid and stabilize the victims before transporting them to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.

Their current conditions have not been publicly updated as they continue to undergo medical evaluations.

The driver of the UV Express was brought to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Traffic Sector 5 for questioning and to provide an official statement.

Authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact sequence of events and whether speed or road conditions played a factor in the crash.

Commonwealth Avenue, often dubbed the "Killer Highway" due to its history of high-speed accidents, remains under close watch by traffic enforcers seeking to minimize such nocturnal tragedies.

In other news, a security footage recently surfaced showing approximately 25 young individuals engaging in a violent confrontation and projectile-throwing melee in Sampaloc. The late-night disturbance on Tuesday caused a significant bottleneck for motorists navigating the normally busy stretch of Lacson Avenue. During a tactical response, authorities successfully detained two adolescents, ages 14 and 16, who were allegedly involved in the street skirmish.
