According to a report by Efren Mamac on GMA Regional TV News on Tuesday, the shooting occurred along Aparente Street while the tricycle was on its regular route. Authorities said the 32-year-old driver was ferrying four passengers when the attack took place.
Police investigation revealed that the suspects took advantage of traffic congestion. When the tricycle stopped at a traffic light, the assailants allegedly opened fire, targeting the driver first.
Police Station 4 Commander Police Major Ivan Charles Abastillas said the initial shot hit the driver, while the second bullet struck the nurse, who was reportedly from Sultan Kudarat. The remaining passengers were not hit.

Both victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared them dead on arrival due to the severity of their injuries.
The wife of the slain driver told police that prior to the incident, her husband’s friend had informed her that someone had been looking for him. This information is now being examined as part of the ongoing probe.
Abastillas said investigators are looking into personal animosity as a possible motive behind the crime, noting that the tricycle driver had been facing a ra*pe case in Sultan Kudarat. Police are determining whether the shooting was connected to that case or involved other motives.
Authorities have already identified persons of interest and are continuing efforts to locate the suspects. Meanwhile, police are still seeking to obtain a statement from the family of the deceased nurse as the investigation moves forward.
