The victim, identified through identification documents as a resident of the Baseco Compound, was targeted by two motorcycle-riding assailants along Sta. Barbara Street.
According to eyewitness reports, the attack unfolded like a scene from an action film. The victim was operating his tricycle at approximately 12:30 AM when the "riding-in-tandem" suspects began a high-speed chase.
Witnesses noted that both the driver of the motorcycle and his passenger were armed and fired multiple shots at the fleeing driver.

The victim, known locally by the alias "Ahano," managed to maintain control of his vehicle for several meters despite being hit.
However, as the wounds took their toll, his tricycle veered off the road, crashing into a traffic island and overturning.
The assailants, one of whom was reportedly wearing a long-sleeved black shirt and a distinctive "Spiderman" mask, fled the scene immediately toward Intramuros.
Responding officers from the Manila Police District (MPD) Ermita Station 5, led by Lt. Col. Alfonso Saligunba III, cordoned off the area upon arrival.
Forensic teams recovered at least six spent shell casings from the pavement. The victim’s tricycle was found to be without a license plate, adding a layer of complexity to the initial identification process.
A relative of the victim arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting, visibly distraught. Family members expressed confusion over the motive, stating that the victim had no known enemies or involvement in illegal activities that would warrant such a violent execution.
Manila authorities are currently facing a significant hurdle in the investigation: the lack of functional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the immediate vicinity of the shooting.
Without clear footage of the getaway vehicle or the suspects' faces, police are relying heavily on witness testimonies.
The MPD has launched a manhunt for the two suspects as investigators explore several angles, including personal grudges or a possible case of mistaken identity.
Local residents are encouraged to come forward with any information that might assist in identifying the men behind the mask.
