The arrests come exactly two weeks after Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido and her eight-year-old son, John Ysmael, were last seen alive.

While the names of the suspects are being withheld pending the filing of formal charges, investigators confirmed that a car agent, the last person known to have met with Mollenido on January 16, remains a central person of interest.

The investigation has uncovered a chilling sequence of events. A silver SUV, believed to be the vehicle used to transport the victims' remains, was seized and is currently undergoing intensive forensic analysis by the PNP Forensic Group in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The tragedy unfolded across provincial lines. Mollenido’s body was discovered in Pulilan, Bulacan, just days before her son's remains were found in Victoria, Tarlac.

Both victims were found wrapped in black industrial garbage bags and were in an advanced state of decomposition, indicating they were killed shortly after their disappearance.

During the arrests, police recovered approximately ₱100,000 in cash, various identification cards, and several mobile phones.

Crucially, the personal phones belonging to Mollenido and her son were also retrieved, which authorities believe contain digital evidence of the communication leading up to the crime.

On Saturday, January 31, a massive search operation was launched along the Pulilan-Baliuag Bypass Road in Bulacan.

Following a tip from one of the suspects, personnel from the QCPD, SOCO, and local police utilized metal detectors and grass cutters to scour the area for the firearm used in the killings.

Though the weapon has not yet been found, the NCRPO remains confident that ballistic evidence will eventually tie the suspects directly to the crime. Once recovered, the firearm will be transported to Camp Karingal for forensic matching.

In other news, a devastating blaze in Iriga City resulted in the deaths of two young siblings and their 63-year-old nanny, who were unable to escape the second floor of their residence. Preliminary findings from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) suggest that a short circuit originating in the living area’s electrical system triggered the rapid spread of flames. While the younger household members perished, the family’s grandparents and another domestic helper managed to flee the burning structure unharmed. Fire marshals are continuing to process the scene to confirm if the fire was exacerbated by combustible materials near the point of origin in the sala.
