According to a report from GMA Super Radyo Davao, the suspect had allegedly found messages on the victim’s Facebook Messenger that suggested she was having an affair. Driven by jealousy and anger, the husband used a knife to stab his wife while she was defenseless and asleep.
In a desperate attempt to save her life, the woman tried to flee the house, but she tripped and lost consciousness before she could escape. Although she was rushed to a nearby hospital, medical staff declared her dead on arrival.
The tragedy almost claimed a second victim when the woman’s mother tried to intervene. The mother was injured during the struggle but is now reported to be in stable condition. Police who responded to the scene recovered the knife believed to have been used in the crime.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is facing charges of parricide for the death of his wife, as well as frustrated parricide for the injuries sustained by his mother-in-law.

What sets this apart from h0micide or murder is the blood or legal bond. In the news story above, because the suspect attacked his wife, the charge is parricide rather than murder.
