Senator Robin Padilla is firing back at critics who questioned his recent civil encounter with MMDA Chairman Nicolas Torre III. The two were spotted shaking hands and conversing during an event with Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, a scene that surprised many given their opposing roles in recent political events.

The tension stems from Nicolas Torre III’s previous role as the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief. On March 11, Torre was a lead implementer in the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who was later flown to The Hague to face the International Criminal Court (ICC). Padilla, a staunch ally of the former President, has been vocal about his disapproval of the arrest and has even called for Duterte’s house arrest.
Through a social media post, Padilla made it clear that a difference in opinion does not mean a lack of manners.
