Authorities are currently tracking down a taxi driver accused of verbally harassing a female student during a ride in Davao City. The incident, which allegedly involved inappropriate and se*xually suggestive remarks, has drawn public attention after a video recording surfaced online.

According to a report by Rgil Relator on GMA Regional TV One Mindanao, the student managed to record the driver’s statements while they were inside the taxi. The video was later posted on social media, where it quickly spread and prompted calls for accountability.
Initial findings indicate that the incident happened on January 20, 2026, as the student was on her way home from school. Reports said the driver initiated a conversation that gradually turned uncomfortable.
The driver allegedly made offensive comments about the student’s body and asked personal questions that eventually became se*xual in nature, including an inappropriate offer.

Despite the ordeal, the student was able to return home safely. She immediately sought assistance from a security guard to help identify the taxi by noting its license plate number and the driver’s name.
The incident was subsequently reported to the Talomo Police Station for formal investigation.
The City Transport and Traffic Management Office has since taken custody of the taxi involved. However, authorities confirmed that the driver remains at large as of this writing.
He may face charges for violating the Safe Spaces Act in relation to the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, also known as Republic Act 7610.
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Region 11 has issued a show cause order against the driver. The LTFRB-11 has directed him to appear at a hearing scheduled on Monday, January 26, 2026, as investigations continue.

In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. Based on a report by EJ Gomez on Unang Balita, the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school’s faculty room. Police said the school had a security guard, but since the suspect was a familiar face, he was able to enter and leave easily. The suspect claimed he went there to talk to his wife and fix their issues, but the situation escalated into a heated argument.
