50-year-old man dies after being shot at a close range by an armed suspect

A 50-year-old man died after being shot at close range in Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela City. Police said the suspect believed the victim was the one who caused his earlier arrest.

According to a report by Bea Pinlac on Balitanghali on Thursday, CCTV footage showed the victim standing at a tricycle terminal. He was holding a bicycle and talking to someone at that time. Moments later, the suspect arrived carrying a gun and fired at the victim at close range.

The victim fell on the road as people nearby ran away in fear.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but later died from his injuries. During the incident, a 62-year-old woman was also hit by a bullet on her left leg. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said the woman was on her way to a store to buy something when she was struck.

Authorities revealed that both suspect and victim had previous records related to illegal dr*gs. Police said the suspect believed the victim had repeatedly reported him to authorities. Investigators said the suspect even confronted the victim during the shooting, accusing him of getting him arrested again.

Hours after the shooting, police arrested the suspect, who is 47 years old, at a nearby house. The suspect admitted to the crime and told police that anger had built up over time. He also apologized for what happened and claimed he felt bullied and framed.

Police said the firearm used in the shooting was not licensed. The suspect also admitted that the attack was planned. He claimed the gun originally came from the victim.

Suspect is now facing charges of murder, attempted hom*cide, and illegal possession of firearms. He remains in custody at the Valenzuela City Police Station as the investigation continues.

The suspect said he went there to talk to his wife and fix their problem, but it ended in a heated argument.
