When the guard approached to stop him, a heated argument broke out.

Police reports indicate that the situation escalated when the victim resisted orders to leave and reportedly attempted to flee the scene.

During the pursuit, the guard discharged his service firearm, hitting the victim multiple times.

First responders rushed the victim to the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, "Alim" was pronounced dead on arrival due to the severity of his gunshot wounds.

The security guard, a resident of Cauayan, did not attempt to flee. He voluntarily surrendered to the Kabankalan City Police Station shortly after the shooting.

Along with his surrender, he turned over his duty weapon—a 9mm pistol—and its remaining ammunition for forensic testing.

Kabankalan City Police Chief, Captain Gary Alan Resuma, confirmed that follow-up operations are currently underway to contact the victim's family, who reside in Barangay Orong.

Investigators recovered several fired cartridge cases at the market, which will serve as key evidence in the impending legal proceedings.

The young victim had just stepped off a tricycle with her mother when she unexpectedly bolted toward their house across the national road, leaving the driver no time to brake. The 38-year-old motorist from Itogon, who was reportedly traveling to find a hog for a relative's wake, immediately stopped to help the family and surrendered to the Suyo Police. Local authorities are reminding guardians to maintain a firm hold on children when alighting from vehicles, especially along high-speed provincial thoroughfares, to avoid split-second tragedies.
