The incident unfolded along the Bataan-bound lane of Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA), a major thoroughfare notorious for heavy vehicle traffic.

The driver of the dump truck had reportedly paused to "give way" to another vehicle that was attempting to cross the intersection.

Moments later, a smaller white Elf truck following closely behind failed to decelerate. The footage reveals that the smaller truck continued at a steady speed, showing no signs of braking before it plowed directly into the heavy steel rear of the dump truck.

The force of the crash crushed the front cabin of the Elf truck, trapping the occupants inside.

Acting Chief of the Lubao Police Station, Police Lt. Col. Dederick Relativo, confirmed the sequence of events during a press briefing.

"’Yung vehicle 1 natin which is ‘yung dump truck huminto siya pagdating sa isang corner dahil may lumabas na isang sasakyan. So, nag-give way siya after ilang seconds sumunod itong elf truck natin na hindi na sila nakapa-preno at nabangga niya ‘yung sa likuran na portion ng dump truck," Relativo explained.

Emergency responders rushed the driver of the Elf truck and his passenger to a nearby medical facility.

Unfortunately, the driver was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to the severity of the trauma sustained.

His companion, whose identity has also been withheld, survived the initial impact but remains under medical supervision for various injuries.

As of this report, the families of those involved have not yet issued public statements. Local authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if there were mechanical failures involved or if the incident was purely a result of a following-distance violation.

The Lubao police have taken this opportunity to remind all motorists, particularly those operating commercial trucks, to maintain a safe "stopping distance" and to stay vigilant on the JASA road, where sudden stops for crossing vehicles are common.
