According to a report by Dano Tingcungco on "Unang Balita" on Wednesday, CCTV footage showed the young victim roller skating and balancing on a window on January 5, moments before the explosion.
Seconds later, children who were playing nearby were seen scattering as the dart bomb, which was reportedly attached to the window, suddenly detonated. The girl was directly hit by the blast.
“Nag-balance po siya sa may bintana na may paputok,” says the father of the victim.

He explained that the type of firecracker involved could explode even with minimal contact.
The child was rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, where doctors made the difficult decision to amputate her entire left hand after determining the damage was beyond repair.
“Ang paliwanag sa akin ng attending physician, mabubulok lang daw, wala na raw natirang daliri,” the father says.
He added that the amputation was done above the wrist to allow the possible use of an artificial hand in the future.
Authorities took the 14-year-old boy who allegedly placed the dart bomb to the Manila Reception and Action Center.
A barangay hearing was held on January 7, two days after the incident, involving both families.
“Nag-hearing naman po kami,” the father says, noting that while the suspect’s family apologized, no other assistance was offered.
The boy’s mother also issued a public apology over the incident.
“Humihingi po ako ng patawad sa magulang ng biktima,” she says.
While criminal charges are not possible due to the suspect’s age, the victim’s family is now studying legal options, including filing a civil case for damages.
The incident has also been officially reported to the police, as the family continues to cope with the lifelong impact of the tragedy.
In an earlier local report by KAMI, a family of three was brutally shot and killed inside their own store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. CCTV footage reportedly showed three men entering the shop, pulling down the roll-up door, and then shooting all the family members until they died. Before fleeing the scene, one of the suspects was also seen taking a bag and a cellphone belonging to the victims. According to TV5 Frontline Pilipinas correspondent Gary De Leon, the family had allegedly been receiving threats after lending ₱1 million to a resident of their barangay, who was said to have used the money for a business venture.
In another local story that went viral, a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. Based on a report by EJ Gomez on Unang Balita, the 38-year-old suspect carried out the attack inside the school’s faculty room. Police said the campus had a security guard on duty, but because the suspect was a familiar figure, he was able to enter and leave the premises without difficulty. The suspect claimed that he went to the school to talk to his wife and settle their issues, but the discussion allegedly escalated into a heated argument that ended in violence.
