The victim, whose body was discovered on Tuesday morning, had been fatally stabbed in what investigators believe was a robbery gone wrong.

The investigation began in Barangay Magaspac when a local resident, who had parked their vehicle alongside the victim’s truck, noticed something suspicious upon returning.

The witness observed that the truck's passenger-side door was left slightly ajar. Upon peering inside, the witness was horrified to find the victim slumped in his seat, lifeless, with a single, deep stab wound to the left side of his chest.

Gerona Police were immediately alerted and arrived at the scene to process the area. Early reports from the field indicate that a substantial amount of cash, estimated at approximately ₱60,000, was missing from the victim’s belongings.

The man, a native of Benguet who was reportedly in the area for a business transaction involving agricultural supplies, had been carrying the money to finalize a deal.

Following a swift pursuit and intelligence-driven operation, the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Gerona successfully moved from questioning a "person of interest" to an official arrest.

The suspect, whose identity is being withheld pending the filing of formal charges, was reportedly the last person seen in the victim’s company.

Police sources suggest that the suspect was an associate or someone the victim had encountered while loading supplies.

Witnesses provided descriptions that matched the individual, and inconsistent statements during the initial interrogation led to the suspect’s detention.
