He shared that equipment from Apex Mining showed indications that someone might still be alive under the debris.

Because of this, rescue efforts continue even though more than 72 hours have already passed.

Mayor Archival also explained that rescue operations picked up speed after new equipment arrived.

Earlier efforts were slow due to safety risks faced by responders at the site.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources Central Visayas issued a cease-and-desist order against Prime Integrated Waste Solutions Inc., operator of the landfill.

The order required the company to stop its operations following the landslide.

Prime Waste Solutions Cebu earlier said it is working closely with government agencies and the local government to help those affected by the incident.

The company confirmed that landfill operations have already been suspended.

The landfill operator added that it will provide updates once more information becomes available.

It also said the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and nearby communities remain its top priority.
