The complaint against Police Brigadier General Jezebel Imelda Medina, former head of the PNP Health Service, was filed two days before her retirement.

According to PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño, an administrative case does not automatically disappear simply because an officer has retired.

“Compulsory retirement does not affect the pendency of a case filed before an officer retires,” Tuaño explained.

He added that the process will continue until the proper authorities issue a final decision.

While Medina will still receive her retirement benefits, these may be reduced depending on the outcome of the case.

“If a decision is made later on and, for the sake of argument, the PNP personnel is found guilty, this will be deducted from her pension,” Tuaño added.

On Wednesday, the National Police Commission confirmed that Medina is facing administrative complaints for less grave neglect of duty and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

According to NAPOLCOM Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan, the complaint arose from two issues.

The first involves Medina’s alleged failure to submit a psychiatric and psychological examination report of a police officer in Quezon City who was accused of sedition in connection with his vlogging activities.

The second concerns her alleged wearing of shoes worth P70,599 while in PNP uniform.

“This act raises serious concerns on modest living and ethical conduct,” Calinisan stressed.
