Another video showed a man wearing a black t-shirt intervening between two men dressed in white shirts who were engaged in a fistfight.
Moments later, the same man fired a gun before fleeing the scene along with his companions.
One of the men involved in the scuffle was hit by a bullet. He was immediately assisted by bystanders, placed behind a vehicle, and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“May isang lalaki roon na binaril. Hindi naman po siya namatay. Agad naman siyang naisugod sa malapit na pagamutan,” says witness Jam Sema.
Police officers, assisted by barangay tanod and other local officials, were able to disperse the crowd and stop the violence before it escalated further.
The individual who uploaded the video said the conflict stemmed from excessive motorcycle noise, which reportedly irritated residents.
“Sa aming mga Muslim, hindi po uso sa amin ang New Year o pagse-celebrate ng bagong taon,” says Sema.
Authorities noted that the continuous revving of motorcycles may have aggravated tensions in the community. An investigation is ongoing as police work to gather statements from those involved and determine possible charges related to the incident.
In an earlier KAMI report, a family of three was brutally murdered inside their own store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. CCTV footage showed three men entering the shop, pulling down the roll-up door, and fatally shooting all three victims. Before escaping, one of the suspects was seen taking a bag and a mobile phone from the scene. A separate report by Gary De Leon on TV5’s Frontline Pilipinas revealed that the family had allegedly been receiving threats after lending ₱1 million to a fellow barangay resident, who reportedly intended to use the money for a business venture.
Meanwhile, another local incident that went viral involved a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City who was stabbed several times by her own husband. Based on a report by EJ Gomez on Unang Balita, the 38-year-old suspect carried out the attack inside the school’s faculty room. Authorities said the school had a security guard, but because the suspect was a familiar figure, he was able to enter and leave the premises without difficulty. The suspect claimed he went to the school to speak with his wife and resolve their issues, but their conversation allegedly escalated into a heated argument that ended in violence.
