A dog died after being shot at a construction site in Candon, Ilocos Sur.

The incident was captured on video and later shared online.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV aired on GTV News Balitanghali, four gunshots were clearly heard in the recording.

Voices of people were also heard begging the incident shooter to stop. Several witnesses said killing animals was not allowed.

One companion of the person who shot the dog explained that the animal had allegedly bitten a resident.

Despite this claim, people at the scene continued to ask the shooter not to kill the dog.

The uploader of the video reported the incident to the barangay officials.

A formal complaint was also filed with the prosecutor’s office, so the case can be reviewed and given legal action.

Authorities are still trying to get a statement from the person who shot the dog.

The report did not name the shooter or explain why the individual was carrying a firearm at the construction site.

An investigation is ongoing to determine responsibility and possible violations related to animal welfare and illegal possession of a gun.

In the Philippines, shooting and killing a dog can lead to criminal charges.

Under Republic Act 8485, also known as the Animal Welfare Act and as amended by RA 10631, killing an animal without a valid reason is illegal.

Penalties may include imprisonment and fines, depending on the cruelty and intent. If a firearm was used illegally, separate charges may apply under gun laws.

Civil liability may also be filed, requiring the person to pay damages to the dog’s owner.

In an earlier local report by KAMI, a family of three was mercilessly shot and killed inside their store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. CCTV footage showed three men entering the shop, closing the roll-up door, and then shooting the entire family to death. Before fleeing, one of the suspects also took a bag and a cellphone belonging to the victims. According to a report by Gary De Leon of TV5 Frontline Pilipinas, the family began receiving threats after they lent P1 million to a resident of their barangay, who allegedly used the money for a business.

In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. Based on a report by EJ Gomez on Unang Balita, the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school’s faculty room. Police said the school had a security guard, but because the suspect was a familiar face, he was able to enter and leave easily. The suspect said he went there to talk to his wife and fix their issues, but the situation turned into a heated argument.
