Authorities said efforts are ongoing to obtain the driver’s official statement as part of the investigation.

According to PNP-HPG spokesperson Lt. Nadame Malang, initial findings suggest the sedan slowed down moments before the collision.

“Nag-menor itong sedan at hindi na rin po nakapag-preno o nakapag-menor itong truck na ito,” says Malang.

Police are also examining whether the truck’s speed played a major role in the deadly crash.

“Isa din ‘yan sa tinitignan din po na anggulo ng atin pong mga imbestigador. Gayong ‘yung impact talaga nitong truck sa mismo pong sedan, sobrang lala,” Malang adds.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims are reportedly in talks with the truck owner regarding a possible settlement.

Despite this, the PNP-HPG emphasized that legal accountability must still be enforced.

Authorities said the truck driver may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple ho*micide and damage to property as the investigation continues.

In a previous KAMI report, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) was said to be taking a deeper look into the importation of about 40 luxury vehicles allegedly connected to the family of Sarah Discaya. The review reportedly began after an interview featuring the family’s high-end car collection went viral online. Authorities noted that the BOC is examining import records, shipping papers, and the names of declared consignees to check for possible violations of customs rules. Public attention has intensified as Discaya has also been associated with contractors tied to flood control projects that are now being reviewed by the Senate. Around the same time, news also broke about the death of former Department of Public Works and Highways undersecretary Catalina Cabral, adding to the string of developments being closely followed by the public.
