Police said the clash prompted heightened security measures in nearby communities to prevent further violence.

On Saturday morning, another encounter broke out as police units continued their operations in the same vicinity.

During this subsequent clash, authorities reported that the leader of the armed group was killed. Law enforcement officers were able to recover two 5.56-caliber rifles from the site of the encounter.

Police said the group is suspected of being involved in gun-for-hire activities and illegal drug tr@fficking.

Investigators also revealed that the slain leader had previously been linked to a murder case, strengthening suspicions that the group had long been engaged in criminal activities.

Despite the neutralization of the group’s leader, authorities said hot pursuit operations are still ongoing to apprehend other members who managed to escape.

Additional police forces have been deployed to the area to ensure public safety and prevent possible retaliatory attacks.

In a previous KAMI report, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) was reported to be probing around 40 luxury vehicles allegedly connected to the family of Sarah Discaya. The investigation followed a viral interview in which Discaya gave the public a look at their collection of high-end cars. Authorities are set to review importation records, including the listed consignees, to determine if any violations were committed. Discaya has also been associated with contractors involved in flood control projects that are now under Senate scrutiny. More recently, news also surfaced regarding the death of former DPWH Undersecretary Catalina Cabral.

Meanwhile, Korina Sanchez-Roxas drew attention after sharing a post on her Instagram account. The photo showed her posing in front of an opulent palace during a visit to Disneyland. In a lighthearted manner, Korina made a playful reference to the controversy linked to her name. She opened her caption with the line "My P10 Million Palace," which many interpreted as a subtle nod to allegations previously raised against her by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.
