Instead, December 14 passed in a blur of anxiety and unanswered questions for Mark Arjay Reyes and the family of Sherra De Juan.

Sherra, a 30-year-old bookkeeper, vanished just days before her wedding, leaving a her family and friends in Fairview, Quezon City, in a state of desperate hope.

The investigation into her disappearance saw a significant development this Tuesday. The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) revealed that they are currently analyzing a surveillance video captured along the busy stretch of Commonwealth Avenue.

The footage shows a woman, whose physical description matches Sherra’s, boarding a public bus on Saturday morning.

For her fiancé, Mark Arjay, the mystery began on the afternoon of December 10. Sherra had sent him a final message at 1:18 p.m., stating she was heading to Fairview Center Mall (FCM) to find a pair of bridal shoes.

She mentioned she would leave her phone to charge for a moment before heading out to save on costs. She never returned.

"Nag-message siya sa akin agad na pupunta siya ng FCM to buy bridal shoes po. Sabi niya sa akin doon na lang siya bibili para makamura daw po,” said Reyes. “Then around 1:18 pm po, nag-message na siya sa akin na iiwan daw niya yung cellphone niya, pupunta na siya ng FCM, icha-charge niya lang daw po sandal," the distraught groom shared emotionally during a recent interview.
“Wala po kaming away especially during that day. Ayaw ko naman po sanang isipin, Sir, na may nanguha sa kanya or ano. Kasi hindi naman po kami yung pamilya na may pera,” he added.

He expressed his reluctance to believe any dark theories, noting that they are an ordinary, hardworking family without enemies or significant wealth that might attract criminal intent.

QCPD District Director Police Colonel Glen Silvio confirmed that while the bus footage is a promising lead, it does not yet tell the whole story.

To dig deeper, the police have secured Sherra’s laptop and mobile phone. They are currently applying for a cyber warrant to legally access her communications and pinpoint exactly who she was in contact with in the hours leading up to her disappearance.

Despite the growing concern, Col. Silvio noted that the police have not yet seen any indicators of "foul play."

There were no reports of Sherra being followed, and interviews with her colleagues suggest she was a regular employee with no known workplace conflicts.

As the forensic examination of her devices begins, the family remains in a state of limbo. A wedding dress remains unworn, and a groom waits by the phone, hoping that the woman seen on the Commonwealth bus is indeed Sherra and that she is on her way back to the life they planned together.

In other news, overseas Filipino worker Rhodora Alcaraz, who is hailed as a modern-day hero, arrived back in the Philippines on December 16, where she was personally greeted by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the First Lady at NAIA Terminal 3. Alcaraz earned international praise for her selflessness during a catastrophic November fire in a Hong Kong high-rise, where she used a wet blanket and her own body to shield her employer’s three-month-old baby from the flames. The residential blaze Alcaraz survived is now ranked as one of the world's most fatal apartment fires in decades, claiming over 160 lives and resulting in several arrests related to safety negligence and faulty alarms. Following her medical recovery in Hong Kong, the Department of Migrant Workers and OWWA coordinated her safe return to her home province of Laguna, ensuring she receives continued assistance for her injuries and trauma.

Still in other news, local authorities and animal rights groups are investigating a disturbing incident near Montalban Public Market, where a man was filmed on CCTV repeatedly beating a dog with a wooden club. Preliminary reports suggest the brutal attack was a vengeful act by the owner of a game rooster, who allegedly targeted the dog after it bit or killed the prized fighting bird. CCTV footage and witness accounts indicate that the primary attacker was accompanied by two other men, none of whom are recognized as regulars or residents in the immediate Rodriguez neighborhood. The Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) has vowed to assist in filing criminal charges under the Animal Welfare Act, reminding the public that harming animals as a form of "street justice" for property damage is a punishable crime.
