The video showed the suspect repeatedly hitting the animal on the head with a wooden object until it stopped moving.

In a report aired on GTV News’ “Balitanghali” on Monday, authorities said initial findings suggest the incident may have been triggered by the dog’s alleged involvement in killing a fighting rooster.

Investigators believe the owner of the rooster may have tracked the dog down, leading to the fatal encounter.

After the attack, the dog was declared dead at the scene. However, confusion followed when the animal’s body suddenly disappeared, and no one could confirm who took it or where it was brought.

This development has complicated efforts to fully document the incident.

Witnesses told barangay officials that the man who killed the dog was not alone at the time.

According to their accounts, two other men were with him, and none of them were recognized as residents of the area. Their identities remain unknown as of writing.

The barangay has launched an investigation into the killing, while the Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) has stepped in to assist with filing charges for violations of the Animal Welfare Act.

The organization emphasized that violence against animals is never justified, regardless of the situation.

In a separate statement, AKF reminded the public that legal remedies exist for disputes involving animals.

“Kung kailangan niyo mag-demanda, magsampa ng reklamo sa barangay para sa danyos perwisyos, gawin po natin yun. Huwag po ‘yung babalikan natin yung hayop para saktan at patayin,” ayon kay Atty. Heidi Caguioa, AKF program director.

Authorities continue to gather evidence as calls for accountability grow louder.

In a separate development, Quezon City police arrested a 20-year-old homeless woman in connection with the December 10 kidnapping of 19-month-old Kiana Jane. Despite the suspect’s arrest, the toddler remains missing, deepening her parents’ distress as authorities continue search operations throughout Novaliches. Investigators said the suspect allegedly gained the trust of the child’s parents outside a store, offering to treat them to a meal before taking the baby and leaving under the guise of running a quick errand. The child’s father, Melvin Lorejas, has made an emotional plea to the public, urging anyone with information or sightings of his daughter to immediately coordinate with police or reach out to their family.

Meanwhile, another incident unfolded in Barangay Sipac-Almacen, Navotas, where a 28-year-old worker suffered severe injuries after her left arm was caught in an industrial dough-rolling machine. The woman was trapped in the equipment for nearly an hour as residents nearby attempted to free her using improvised tools. Firefighters from the Navotas Fire Station’s specialized rescue team later arrived and used hydraulic extrication equipment, managing to release her arm within five minutes. She was rushed to a hospital after losing consciousness, and her family later disclosed that she is now experiencing intense psychological trauma along with significant swelling in the injured limb.
