A woman who bravely rescued her two pet dogs from a burning residential building in Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City, was formally recognized by the local government for her courageous act.

The commendation was given during the regular session of the Mandaue City Council on Monday, honoring her selfless response during the December 10 fire.
The woman was identified as Ei Mei Lee Chiu-Maningo, a resident of the same building that was destroyed by the blaze. Despite the danger, she chose to return inside to save her pets, later identified as pomeranian-type dogs named Miyah and Kayen.
In a statement released by the city, officials noted her bravery stating, “She risked herself to save her two dogs ‘Miyah’ and ‘Kayen’.”

Members of the city council acknowledged Maningo’s presence of mind during the emergency.
