The teen, who failed to return home on Wednesday, was found dead on Friday morning, prompting his relatives to express suspicion that foul play may have been involved.

According to a report by Cyril Chaves for GMA Regional TV One Mindanao, the victim had not come home since midweek.

Authorities were alerted after his remains were spotted in the water earlier in the day.

His family said that he was last heard from on Wednesday afternoon when he called his mother.

The family shared that he told her he was waiting for a motorcycle ride home.

Police noted that some of the boy’s belongings were missing. Investigators said his mobile phone was not found with him.

They also confirmed that neither his bag nor his wallet was recovered in the area, raising questions about what may have happened before he ended up in the river.

Members of the Philippine Coast Guard reported receiving information on Wednesday night about a possible person who had fallen into the river.

A spokesperson said they immediately carried out search and retrieval operations in response to the report.

The Macasandig Bantay Dagat team located the boy’s remains on Friday morning during their patrol.

Authorities said the condition of the body indicated that he had been in the water for some time.
